Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein to pay the accidental relief fund by considering the representation dated 13/02/2024, now pending before the respondents, within the time to be stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.

Petitioner is called absent.
2. The prayer of the petitioner is for a mandamus to direct the respondents to pay the accidental relief fund. In this regard, the petitioner has submitted a representation dated 13.02.2024 which is pending before the respondents.
3. When the matter has come up for admission on 28.03.2024, the following order has been passed:
Mr.S.John J.Raja Singh, learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice for R1 and R2 and Mr.R.Kishore Kumar, learned Government Advocate accepts notice for R3. They seek some time to obtain instructions and file counters.
2. Mr.Singh circulates written instructions vide letter No.A4/004/2024, dated 27.03.2024, wherein it is stated that 2/6
the Guindy Traffic Investigation police/R3 will send a report to the jurisdictional Revenue Divisional Officer being Revenue Divisional Officer, South Chennai at Guindy and thereafter funds will be received from the Government for disbursement to the petitioner.
3. For this purpose, Revenue Divisional Officer, South Chennai at Guindy is impleaded suo motu as R4 in this Writ Petition and Mr.S.John J.Raja Singh, learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice for the newly impleaded R4 as well.
4. List on 29.04.2024. Let a comprehensive common status report be filed prior to the next date of hearing with an advance copy served upon the petitioner.
3. Today, R4 has filed a status report dated 05.07.2024, wherein at paragraph 8, it is stated as follows:
"8. I respectfully submit that as of date we have been disbursing the amount to the beneficiaries pertaining to the year 2022. In the year 2022, there were a total of 1625 beneficiaries, out of which 65 cases have been disbursed and 1560 cases are pending. Disbursement pertaining to the year 2023 have not yet been taken up so far due to the receipt of the cases are very high and also around 3824 files of the Accident relief cases have been received from the Erstwhile Tambaram Revenue Divisional Office, Kanchipuram District due to the amalgamation of Sholinganallur and Alandur Taluk from Kanchipuram District in Chennai District on par with the Greater Chennai Corporation and it was arranged year wise and made entry in the register and the relief amount was disbursed to the beneficiary accordingly. Hence, the commencing of the disbursement for the next 2021 and 2022 year got delayed. The pending files will be expedited to complete the disbursement process without 3/6
further delay."
4. In light of the above, mandamus is issued to R4 to disburse the amount in terms of the procedure set out in status report dated 05.07.2024 within four (4) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order.
