This writ petition is filed for the following relief: "To direct the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner for appointment as Post Graduate Assistant (Commerce) based on the marks secured by him in the qualifying examination conducted for PG Assistant (Commerce) under the PSTM SC Quota by calling him for Certificate verification and appoint him as such." 2/6
2. The petitioner completed his Graduation in B.Com in the year 2001 and M.Com in the year 2008 from the Madras University. The petitioner has also acquired graduation in B.Ed from Annamalai University in Tamil Medium with 1st class in the year 2010. It is submitted that the petitioner has registered his name in the employment exchange and the same is in force. The petitioner would submit that based on the notification issued by the respondents in Notification No.01/2021 dated 09.09.2021, the petitioner applied for direct recruitment for the post of PG Assistant in Commerce. The petitioner has come out successful in the examination conducted and when the provisional list were published, the petitioner has secured total marks of 81 out of 147 marks.

The petitioner would submit that he was directed to appear for the certificate verification by a communication issued by the respondents dated 28.02.2022 and the petitioner has appeared and submitted the documents. Thereafter, no response received from the respondents. The petitioner would submit that persons who secured 3/6
less marks have been selected. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.
4. Heard the learned counsels on the either side and perused the records.
5. A perusal of the records would show that the petitioner has only secured 74 marks, whereas, the cut off mark for SC candidates was 82 marks. Therefore, the petitioner does not fall within the zone of consideration. The action of the respondent in not including the petitioner for further processing is justified.
6. In the result, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. 10.03.2026 kan 4/6
