PRAYER : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 03.11.2020 made by the petitioner with regard to re-conveyance of land in Survey no.64/22 situated at Mukundarayapuram Village, Walajapet Taluk.

O R D E R

(The case has been heard through video conference) This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction directing the respondents to consider petitioner's representation dated 03.11.2020 with regard to reconveyance of land in Survey No.64/22 situated at Mukundarayapuram Village, Walajapet Taluk.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that, the petitioner's land was acquired in the year 1997 for establishment of SIPCOT. Alleging that no award has been passed, possession was not taken from the petitioner and he is still in possession, the petitioner said to have made application to the 1st respondent District Collector on 04.12.2020 seeking for reconveyance. Based on the request, the 1st respondent has also sought for a report from the 2nd respondent Sub-Collector, Ranipet. Thereafter, his application was not considered and no order has been passed on it. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner.

3. Today, when the matter taken up for hearing, Mr.K.Thilageswaran, learned counsel appearing for petitioner would submit that, the petitioner's application is pending for more than six months. Hence, the 1st respondent may be directed to pass suitable orders in the application filed by petitioner within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

4. Considering the limited prayer sought in the Writ Petition, without going into the merits of the case, the 1st respondent District Collector is directed to consider the petitioner's application and pass suitable orders on merits in accordance with law after giving opportunity to the petitioner within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
