ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed challenging the order dated 13.12.2023 passed by the respondent, thereby suspended the petitioner from service.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner had joined as a Junior Assistant in the Commercial Taxes Department in the year 1999. Subsequently, he was promoted to the post of State Tax Officer on 30.12.2018. He was also given additional charge to the post of Assistant Commissioner in Porur Assessment Circle from 03.11.2022. While being so, the respondent found some irregularities and as such, by an order dated 13.12.2023, the petitioner was placed under suspension. The order of suspension has been challenged in this writ petition on the ground that so far no charge memo has been served on the petitioner. Now the petitioner was served with a charge memo dated 21.02.2024.

4. In view of the above, this Court finds no infirmity or illegality in the order passed by the respondent and the writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. However, the respondent is directed to complete the disciplinary proceedings within a period of six months from the date of

receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is at liberty to raise all the grounds before the Disciplinary Authority.
