ORDER
The relief sought in this writ petition is a direction to the 1st respondent to to sanction the medical reimbursement amount to petitioner in the light of his final representation dated 27.01.2024 within a stipulated period to be fixed by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
3. It is stated that the petitioner, while working as a Sub-Inspector of Police at Vikkiravandi Police Station, on 15.04.1994, went for alcohol-free hunting. Due to the mistake committed by a co-police constable, a fire accident occurred, in which two persons lost their lives and the petitioner sustained about 35% burn injuries. For the said injuries, the petitioner underwent medical treatment and incurred a medical expenditure of Rs.1,94,413.50/-. Thereafter,
the 2nd respondent, through proceedings in Na.Ka.No.P6/2382/08 dated 05.02.2008 and reminder dated 24.02.2009, forwarded proposals to the 1st respondent seeking sanction of the medical reimbursement amount. Despite several representations, no orders have been passed till date. Even after the petitioner's retirement on 30.04.2023, the claim remains unattended. Hence, the present writ petition seeking a direction to consider the petitioner's representation lastly dated 27.01.2024.
4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice, if a direction is issued by this Court to the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner by considering the petitioner's latest representation, dated 27.01.2024, within a time frame.

Per contra, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner's representation is under an active consideration by the respondents and that a direction may be issued to the 1st respondent will pass orders in accordance with law, on the petitioner's representation within a reasonable time frame.
6. Considering the submissions made on either side and without going into the merits of the claim, this Court disposes of this writ petition by directing the 1st respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 27.01.2024, seeking sanction of medical reimbursement, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
