Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 18% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.06.2018 to 24.09.2019 in paying the amounts paid towards the 1/4

terminal and pension benefits of the petitioner namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity, Encashment of Earned Leave and Commuted Value of Pension, within a time frame.

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus, seeking a direction against the respondents to pay interest for the belated payment of terminal and pension benefits of the petitioner namely, Employees Provident Fund, Gratuity, Encashment of Earned Leave and commutation of pension. The petitioner had given a representation on 03.01.2025.

2.In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, it is stated that the petitioner joined the respondent Transport Corporation on 21.02.1992 and retired from service upon attaining the age of superannuation on 31.05.2018. According to the petitioner, the terminal benefits were disbursed with a delay and he now seeks interest for the delayed period.

3.A direction is therefore issued to the respondents to examine the petitioner's Service Register and verify the date when the amount was disbursed. If it is found that the amount was disbursed with delay, interest at the rate of 6% per annum shall be granted from the date of retirement until the actual date of disbursement. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
