ORDER

Heard Mr.V.Raghavachari, the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.M.L.Mahendran, the learned Government pleader appearing for the respondents.

2. The writ petition is filed for a mandamus to direct the second respondent to assign the land in S.No.218, measuring 1.51, acres falling within Tittagudi Town Panchayat, Cuddalore, in favour of the petitioner and other eligible Arunthathiyars. 3.According to the petitioner, he and the other persons in the locality are poor Arunthathiyars and they do not have any land and the land in which they are in occupation has been classified as pattai poramboke and there is no bar for the Government to assign the lands in favour of the petitioner. In this regard, representations were made and ultimately, the Government by Letter No.44011/epK1(1)/ 2014-1 dated 28.11.2014, directed the District Collector to look into the matter. Since no action has been taken by the District Collector, the petitioner is before this Court.

4. In the light of the above facts, without going into the merits of the case, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, as directed to be considered by the Government, vide Government Letter dated 28.11.2014 and pass orders on merits, as expeditiously as possible.

5. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
