ORDER
The present Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the fourth respondent police not to harass the petitioner under the guise of enquiry.

The case of the petitioner is that under the guise of conducting an enquiry on the complaint given by one Valarmathi/de facto complainant, the fourth respondent police are unnecessarily harassing him. 3.
The learned counsel for the petitioner, on instructions from the petitioner, submitted that the petitioner is ready to appear before the fourth respondent police on 17.03.2026.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, submitted that one Valarmathi had given a complaint against the petitioner stating that the petitioner had live-in-relationship with the said Valarmathi and during such period, the petitioner had taken away 24 sovereigns of gold, Rs.42 lakhs in cash, car, bike and diamond ring totally to a value of Rs.1.5 Crores. The respondent police are conducting an enquiry in C.S.R.No.60 of 2026 and that the petitioner was called only for enquiry and was not harassed during the enquiry. He further submitted that the petitioner had lodged a complaint against
the then Inspector of Police of the fourth respondent who has now been transferred on election duty.

Considering the submissions made on either side and on perusal of the materials available on record, it is seen that one Valarmathi had given a complaint against the petitioner which was registered as C.S.R.No.60 of 2026 and the petitioner had given a complaint dated 25.02.2026 against the then Inspector of fourth respondent. The petitioner, after sending it by post, not appeared and submitted any documents to verify the truthfulness of the complaint. Hence, the petitioner is directed to appear before the fourth respondent on 17.03.2026 along with supporting documents and co-operate in the enquiry. It is made clear that the petitioner shall not be harassed during the course of enquiry. If any cognizable offence is made out, the respondent Police shall register First Information Report on the complaints and proceed in accordance with law.

With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
