O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The affidavit filed by the respondents states that a 13-Member Committee was constituted from various departments to prepare technical specifications and standards with requirements of fitting the electronic digital fare meters with printer and GPS in autorickshaws plying in Chennai Metropolitan area vide a Government Order dated 24.09.2013. The work of procurements of these meters with printer and GPS has been entrusted to ELCOT in terms of G.O.

dated 26.06.2014. A tender had been floated for procurement of electronic digital fare meters with Printer and GPS. The tender is stated to have been notified on 20.07.2015 with pre-bid meetings being held. The due date for opening the tender is stated to be 04.09.2015. However, this time period has been extended till 07.10.2015 ostensibly on account of large number of queries raised in respect of tender.

2.Learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions from Mr.P.Vijayaraj, Joint Transport Commissioner (Rules) and Pr.Senthilnathan, Asst. Secretary, Transport Department, present in Court, states that the tender will be finalised within a period of two (2) months of the said date and the successful tenderer is to be granted six (6) months time to implement the same. 3.The aforesaid statement is taken on record and the respondents shall remain bound by the same. In the unforeseen eventuality of any delay, the respondents shall be bound to move this Court for extension of time.
