O R D E R

Mr.G.Nanmaran, learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with instructions to enable a final disposal of this Writ Petition, even at the stage of admission.

2. The prayer of the petitioner is for a mandamus directing the respondents to issue a smart (ration) card to the petitioner on the basis of her application dated 06.07.2023.

3. Mr.Nanmaran circulates proceeding bearing Na.Ka.No.k2/ 6380/2024 dated 19.03.2024 to the effect that the process is nearly complete. However, the respondents are unable to issue the card in view of the model code of conduct which is presently in force. He assures the Court that the needful will be done upon lifting the same and in this regard, he seeks 16 weeks time.

4. Hence, mandamus is issued to R3/Assistant Commissioner, R.K.Nagar Zone, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department to do the needful in terms of processing the application and if found proper, issue the smart (ration) card to the petitioner, after hearing the petitioner, if necessary, within a period of sixteen (16) weeks from today. 2/4

5. This Writ Petition is disposed as above. No costs.
