For Petitioners ::
Mr.K.Harikrishnan For Respondent ::
Mr.D.Raghu, Standing Counsel
COMMON ORDER These Contempt Petitions have been filed seeking to punish the respondent for the willful disobedience of the Common Order of this Court dated 03.10.2017 in W.P.No.25736 to 25739/2017. 2.
When the matters were taken up today through Video Conferencing, Mr.D.Raghu, learned Standing Counsel for the respondent submitted that all the amount payable to the petitioners have been paid to them by complying with the Common Order passed by this Court. 3.
Per contra, learned Counsel for the petitioners submitted that interest on belated payment of gratuity has not been paid. 4.
In this regard, it is pertinent to note that in the Common Order passed by this Court in W.P.Nos.25736 to 25739/2017 dated 03.10.2017, this Court has only directed the Official respondents to consider the representation of the petitioners and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. Now, it appears that the representations of the petitioners
have been considered and the gratuity amount also has been paid. Therefore, the common order of this Court has been complied with. However, since it is submitted by the learned Counsel for the petitioners, that no interest has been paid on belated payment of gratuity, the petitioners can very well approach the concerned Labour Forum in this regard .
5.
In the result, the Contempt Petitions are closed with liberty to the petitioners to work out their remedy by approaching the Labour Court concerned.
