The petitioner seeks bail in respect of Crime No.81 of 2020 registered against him for the offences under Sections 5(1), 5(j)(ii) and 6 of the

Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. 2.The petitioner was remanded to judicial custody on 06.03.2020. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner, who is aged about 47 years, had sexually assaulted a minor girl, aged about 16 years, as a result of which, she has become pregnant. In the statement under Section 164 Cr.P.C., the victim girl has clearly sated that it was the petitioner who is responsible for her pregnancy.

3.In view of the gravity of the offence and the fact that the investigation is still pending, I do not think that the petitioner could be enlarged on bail at present. Hence, this bail petition is dismissed. 23.04.2020 mkn To 1.The Inspector of Police, Kunnam Police Station, Perambalur District.
