Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent authorities to take immediate appropriate steps to implement security, traffic and parking arrangements maintaining the security inside this Hon'ble High Court campus, Chennai. ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) A brief history has been placed before us by the learned counsel for the Registrar General, Madras High Court, which shows various compliances which have been carried out towards the object of the prayer, which is to implement the security, traffic and parking arrangements inside the campus of the Madras High Court, so as to maintain the dignity. It may be noticed that the writ petition was filed in the wake of the bomb blast in the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi on 07.09.2011, which had caused nine deaths and injured fifty.
2. There can be no doubt as to the requirement of providing security in the High Court both in the interest of the judges, lawyers as also the litigant public. The brief history, thus, shows that there are still some aspects which need to be addressed. A copy of the brief history has been handed over to the learned Government Pleader. The respondent-State Government to take all necessary steps in this behalf keeping in mind the recommendations which have been made by the High Court from time to time and ensure that broadly all the recommendations are implemented by the State Government as it affects the very foundation of the security set up of the judiciary.
3. The writ petition, accordingly, stands disposed of with the aforesaid directions. No costs.
4. List for compliance on 30.10.2015 when the State Government will file the status report qua the compliances at least three days prior to the next date of hearing.
