With the consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The present writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the petitioners application for the grant of contract carriage Maxi cab permit (dealt with R.No.13635/2025 dated 28.02.2025 in respect of vehicle number TN 18/E9003 forthwith.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the All India Tourist Maxi Cab permit for the petitioner's vehicle TN-18/E-9003, the permit for the said vehicle, was valid up to 14.03.2021. Due to the Covid pandemic and loss in the transport business, the permit lapsed without renewal in the year 2021. To continue the transport business on 28.02.2025, the petitioner applied for a fresh contract carriage maxi cab permit in the office of the respondent for the said vehicle to ply throughout Tamil Nadu State. 2/4

Learned counsel would further submit that the respondent has received the petitioner's application with prescribed fees and assigned R.No.13635/2025, the respondent has completed all the formalities to grant the permit, but till date the permit has not been issued, and the petitioner's maxi cab vehicle is lying idle thereby the petitioner is incurring loss and paying the financier without operating the vehicle. Hence, the writ petition is filed.

5. Learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 28.02.2025 would be considered on merits, in accordance with law within a time frame stipulated by this Court.

6. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

7. Without going into the merits of the case, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 28.02.2025 on merits, in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/4

In the result, the writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations and direction. No costs.
