ORDER

The petitioner has filed this contempt petition for the alleged disobedience of the order of this Court dated 29.06.2016 passed in W.P.No.22367 of 2016.

2. Today, when the matter is taken up for consideration, the learned Government Pleader produced a letter addressed to him by the respondent - Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Chennai, in Lr.No.44280/2016 PRI 3.2 dated 21.06.2017, wherein, it has been specifically stated as follows:

"It is humbly submitted that, as per the directions of Hon'ble High Court of Madras, the Director of Rural Development in his letter No.44280/2016 PRI 3.2 dated 15.09.2016 issued a direction to take an appropriate enquiry and action on this matter.

Accordingly, no payment was made to the alleged construction of the commercial complex in the Thiruvarur Panchayat Union.

Till now, no payment has been made to the said construction, so there is no question on loss to the exchequer and for th above case, Mr.Baskaran, then Block Development Officer, Thiruvarur Panchayat Union was framed under charges 17(b) of Tamil Nadu Civil Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1973 on 28.04.2017."

3. From the above communication, it is so clear that no payment has been effected to the alleged construction of the Commercial complex in the Thiruvarur Panchayat Union. Further, 17(b) charges has been initiated against the then Block Development Officer, Thiruvarur. In view of the same,

this Court is of the opinion that no order is required in this petition.

4. Recording the same, this Contempt Petition stands closed.
