[Order of the Court was made by N.KIRUBAKARAN, J.,] This Court vide order dated 17.06.2021 permitted the convicts in Mr.Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case, viz., Mrs. S.Nalini and Mr. Murugan to speak to their relatives in UK as well as in Sri Lanka, after getting appropriate permission from the State and Central Governments. The relevant portion of the said order is usefully extracted as follows:

"32.Therefore, the following directions are given: (1).The respondents 5 and 6 are directed to give appropriate clearance to the State authorities within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

(2).Thereafter, the State authorities are directed to make necessary arrangements to make the prisoners viz., S.Nalini, wife of Thiru.Sriharan @ Murugan (Ct.No.810) confined in the Special Prison for Women, Vellore and Sriharan @ Murugan, son of Late Vetrivel (Ct.No.12840) confined in the Central Prison, Vellore, to enable them to talk to Somani Ammal (WhatsApp No.00-94778325334) and Raji (WhatsApp. No.44-7874168184) over WhatsApp Video for about 20 minutes on every alternate day for 10 days, after ascertaining the identity of the mother and sister of Sriharan @ Murugan, within a period of two weeks.

(3).The said conversation shall be videographed by the authorities and if 1/4

there is any deviation in their conversation, apart from family matters, the authorities are at liberty to disconnect the call." Thereafter, the matter was directed to be posted for compliance today. 2.

When the matter is called today, Mr. M.Radhakrishnan, Learned Counsel submits that the order of this Court has been complied with by the State Government as well as Central Government, and the convicts were permitted to speak to their relatives and Mr. J.C.Durairaj, Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) also filed a compliance report dated 05.08.2021 stating that the order has been complied with. A copy of the relevant portion of the communication from Superintendent of Prison, Central Prison, Vellore dated 25.07.2021 is extracted as follows:- "2.

I submit that as per the orders issued in the reference 2nd and 3rd cited, the Life Women Convict No.810, Nalini W/o. Murugan, Special Prison for Women, Vellore and Life convict No.12840, Murugan @ Sriharan S/o. Vetrivel (Late) Central Prison, Vellore were permitted to interact with to their relatives (Sriharan's elder sister Raji living at London and his mother Somani Ammal Living at Sri Lanka) residing at foreign through Whatsapp video calls about 20 minutes under the proper oversight of the Jailor of the respective prisons after laying down certain parameters as mentioned in the orders.

1. LCT No.810 Nalini W/o. Murugan @ Sriharan, Special Prison for Women, Vellore has interacted with Tmt. Somani Ammal W/o. Vetrivel Mobile Number : +94-778325334 (Sriharan's Mother living at Sri Lanka) and Tmt. Raji mobile Number : 2/4

+44-7874168184 (Sriharan's elder sister living at London) through Whatsapp Video calls on 17.07.2021, 19.07.2021, 21.07.2021, 23.07.2021 and 25.07.2021.

2. LCT No.12840 Murugan @ Sriharan S/o. Vetrivel, Central Prison, Vellore has interacted with Tmt. Somani Ammal W/o. Vetrivel Mobile Number : +94-778325334 (Sriharan's Mother living at Sri Lanka) and Tmt. Raji Mobile Number : + 447874168184 (Sriharan's elder sister living at London) through Whatsapp Video call on 17.07.2021, 19.07.2021, 21.07.2021, 23.07.2021 and 25.07.2021.

Further, I submit that the video calls were carefully watched and videographed. No undesirable communication in sign language or no conversation other than family matters was noticed during the video calls."

From the above, it is clear that the order of this Court has been complied with. Hence, no further order is required in this matter.
