Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to take appropriate actions by allowing all the general public devotees on the Kanagasabai Entry in order to have a customary practice of 2-3 metres distance Darshan in the Sabanayaga Temple.

ORDER

(The Order of the Court was made by The Honourable Chief Justice) The Writ Petition has been filed to issue direction to the respondents 1 and 2 to take appropriate decision to allow the general public devotees to enter into the Kanagasabai Entry to have customary practice of 2/3 metres distance Darshan at Sabanayaga Temple.

2. The learned Advocate General appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 submitted that the Darshan at the distance of 2/3 metres in the Temple, was stopped due to Covid-19 Pandemic situation. Three phases of Covid-19 had already passed and again there is a threat of fourth phase of Covid-19 and thus, presently, no decision has been taken to restore the said customary practice of Dharshan of the deity in the Temple.

3. In view of the statement aforesaid, the direction to the respondents 1 to 3 to allow the Darshan of the deity from the distance of 2/3 metres, cannot be issued by this Court, rather, it is upto the respondents 1 to 3 to take appropriate decision in the matter. The decision therein would be taken after taking care of Covid-19 Pandemic situation and taking care of all other aspects.
