The petitioner was working as Professor in Political Science in Gandhi Gram Rural Institute and on 05.09.2006, he joined the Department of Politics and International Studies in the respondent University as Professor. In the year 2009, the petitioner was nominated as Head of the Department.
2. While so, by the impugned order dated 10.02.2014, the petitioner was transferred and posted as Centre Head, Pondicherry University Centre, Mahe for setting up Mahe Community College.
3. According to the petitioner, he completed the task of setting up the Community college and it started functioning from July 2014. Since the purpose of transferring him to Mahe is over, he made representations dated 06.04.2015 and 21.04.2015 to the respondent to re-transfer him to Pondicherry since he has been guiding research scholars at various stages of their research at Pondicherry and in the present posting, he could not guide the research scholars.

4. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking to quash the order of transfer dated 10.02.2014. The main ground alleged by the petitioner is that the purpose for which he was transferred was complied with and he completed the task assigned to him and therefore, he should have been re-transferred to old place.
5. However, the learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the respondent to dispose of his representations on merits and in accordance with law taking into account the aforesaid facts within a stipulated period.
6. In view of the limited prayer now made, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent to dispose of the representations of the petitioner, dated 06.04.2015 and 21.04.2015 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
