Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider and dispose petitioners representation dated 24.12.2014 seeking appointment under compassionate grounds.

Heard both sides. Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the first respondent and Mrs.P.Rajalakshmi takes notice for the second respondent. By consent of both the parties the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. 2.The prayer in the writ petition itself lies in a narrow compass. The husband of the petitioner was employed as a Sanitory Worker in the second respondent municipality/ corporation. He died on 25.06.2009. The petitioner immediately made a representation to the second respondent on 05.04.2010. The second respondent directed to furnish certain documents. Accordingly, the petitioner also furnished the documents. However, no order is made providing compassionate appointment. In the circumstances, the petitioner also made another representation dated 24.12.2014 to the first respondent seeking compassionate appointment. 3.At the time of hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the writ petition could be disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider her claim for compassionate appointment on merits and in accordance with law within a stipulated time.

4.In view of the narrow prayer made during the hearing, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider the claim of the petitioner for compassionate appointment, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
