C O M M O N J U D G M E N T (Judgment of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J.,) The writ petitions filed by the appellants were dismissed by the learned single Judge. The present appeals are directed against the order dated 25.09.2018 passed by the learned single Judge.

2. When these appeals came up for admission on 28.06.2019, the learned counsel for the appellants, on instructions, submitted that the appellants are advised to withdraw the writ petitions itself so as to enable them to move the appropriate authority for redressal of their grievances We therefore permitted the learned counsel for the appellants to serve notice on the learned Standing Counsel for the Periyar University.

3. We have heard the learned counsel for the appellants. We have also heard the learned Standing counsel for the Periyar University.

4. The learned counsel for the appellants, after making his position clear that the appellants do not want the appeals to be prosecuted, made an endorsement indicating that the appellants are withdrawing the writ petitions with liberty to approach the appropriate authority.

5. In view of the endorsement made by the learned counsel for the appellants, we permit the appellants to withdraw the writ petitions. In view of the withdrawal of the writ petitions, the order passed by the learned single Judge is set aside.

6. The appellants are at liberty to approach the appropriate authority in accordance with law. However, we make it clear that the expression "liberty" should not be construed to be an expression of opinion on the merits of the case pleaded by the appellants.

7. The intra court appeals are disposed of taking into account the subsequent events relating to the withdrawal of the very writ petitions by the appellants. No costs.
