ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.02.2026 and to handover the vacant possession of Flat No.159, M.S.Nagar, Chetpet, Chennai-600 031 to the petitioner who is the sole legal of his mother Valliammal within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

2. Mr.D.S.Karthikeyan, learned Standing Counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that his mother viz., Valliammal died on 15.10.2023 leaving behind the petitioner and his sister Nagammal. His father predeceased his mother. Thereafter, the petitioner had obtained legal heirship certificate certifying that the petitioner and his sister alone are the legal heirs of their late mother Nagammal. Subsequently, the petitioner's sister who was a widow and had no children also died on 18.01.2026. The petitioner being the sole legal heir of his mother, had submitted a representation dated 25.02.2026 requesting to allot a vacant plot to him which was allotted to his mother during her lifetime however, the same did not evoke any response from the respondents. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.10.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

6. In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders on the same in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
