.. Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on merits by disposing the written representation made by the petitioner on 03.01.2021 within a stipulated time.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, J.) The petitioner is aggrieved by the failure of the official respondents to undertake dredging and related activities in Ilangadu Eri and adjacent waterbodies.
2. The writ petitioner asserts that the official respondents have recorded that expenditure in excess of Rs.1 crore was incurred for dredging and repairing the irrigation canals of Ilangadu Eri and associated waterbodies. However, it is alleged that no such dredging and repairing works were carried out between the years 2015 and 2020.
3. Learned counsel for the State, Mr.P.Muthukumar, relies upon a status report to the effect that about 86 items of works were carried out at Ilangadu Eri of the value of about Rs.1.36 crore. He further states that the petitioner's representation was not received and that if a representation is addressed to the second respondent, the same would be disposed of within a reasonable time frame.
4. Accordingly, without going into the merits of the matter, the petitioner is granted leave to submit a representation to the second respondent herein within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt thereof, the second respondent is directed to consider and dispose of such representation by a reasoned order within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt thereof after providing a reasonable opportunity of hearing both to the petitioner and to the parties affected thereby.
5. W.P.No.10315 of 2021 is disposed of on the above terms. There will be no order as to costs.
