The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 29.11.2019, pursuant to a non bailable warrant issued on 06.03.2016, for the offences punishable under Sections 341, 324, 302 & 506 (ii) of IPC r/w Section 34 of IPC, seek bail.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that this Court in Crl.O.P.No.6948 of 2021 while dismissing the earlier application for bail, had directed the trial Court to complete the trial in S.C.No.195 of 2015 within a period of six months from 17.05.2021. However, there is no progress in the trial. Therefore, he prays for grant of bail to the petitioner.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent would submit that there are totally 26 witnesses in this case and out of them, 11 witnesses have been examined so far and 15

witnesses remain to be examined, out of them, 5 witnesses are Government witnesses and 6 witnesses are private witnesses.

5. Heard both the learned Counsel and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed and a direction is issued to the learned V Additional Sessions Judge, Chennai to conduct the trial in S.C.No.195 of 2015 on day to day basis and complete the trial as expeditiously as possible, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 29.09.2022 rgi
