Writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to issue community certificate to the petitioners as belonging to "Malaikuravan community" based on their application dated 17.03.2014.

O R D E R
(Order of the Court was made by V. Dhanapalan, J.) Heard Mr. V. Lakshminarayanan learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and Mr. R. Rajeswaran learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent. The prayer of the petitioners is for a direction to the respondent to issue community certificate to the petitioners as belonging to "Malaikuravan community" based on their application dated 17.03.2014. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
2. The petitioners are minor who are represented by their father S.Ashok Kumar. According to their father, he belong to "Malaikuravan community" classified as Schedule Tribe by the Government of Tamil Nadu and that his father Shanmugam is well known among his community. The 1st petitioner Harish is studying 7th standard and the 2nd petitioner Tamil is studying 4th standard. Since they are in need of the community certificates, their father applied for the same on 17.03.2014. The same is still pending consideration, hence this writ petition.
3. Mr.R. Rajeswaran learned Special Government Pleader, on instructions, would submit that the application submitted by the petitioner is pending consideration before the competent authority and that a reasonable time may be granted to them to consider the same, if not already considered.
4. Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, without adverting into the merits of the case, the respondent herein is directed to take up the application of the petitioners dated 17.03.2014, consider the same in accordance with law, give an opportunity of hearing to the parties concerned and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, if not already considered. The writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. There shall be no orders as to the costs.
