The petitioner, seeks issuance of mandamus directing the first respondent being the District Collector, Kallakurichi to permit the petitioner to renovate the Arulmigu Moopanar, Arulmigu Ponnumuthu Mariyamman Thirukoil ('Temple'/'Temple in question') at Nagakuppam Colony, Pandiyankuppam Post, Chinnaselam Taluk, Kallakurichi District without any interference by any third parties. He has arrayed individuals at R5 to R9. No notice is issued to them at this juncture.

2. Mr.S.John J.Raja Singh, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice for R1 to R3 and Mr.R.Kishore Kumar, learned Government Advocate who accepts notice for R4 are armed with instructions to enable final disposal at this juncture.

3.The instructions reported by the official respondents is that there are two warring factions of persons in the village where the temple in question is situated. The petitioner has made the same request as before this Court, by way of representation on 04.12.2023 and the receipt of the representation by the District Collector is admitted.

4.Since a fruitful adjudication upon the representation would involve a peace committee meeting to be conducted between the two factions in the village, the local police has also been roped in, to ensure a peaceful settlement. 5.Since the official respondents have taken note of the grievance of the petitioner and state that they are in the process of engaging the parties in settlement talks, no further intervention is required by this Court. The official respondents are directed to continue their efforts and do the needful in terms of ensuring/attempting an amicable settlement between the parties. 6.With this, this writ petition is closed.
