Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the application of the petitioner dated 20.12.2018 for the issuance of community certificate to the petitioner and his children namely 1.Shashank and 2. Sahana that they belong to "Kurichchan (ST) community after obtaining the report from the authorized Anthropologist in respect of Kurumans (ST) Community.

[Order was delivered by R.SUBBIAH,J] The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the application of the petitioner dated 20.12.2018 for the issuance of community certificate to the petitioner and his children namely 1.Shashank and 2. Sahana that they belong to "Kurichchan (ST) community after obtaining the report from the authorized Anthropologist in respect of Kurumans (ST) Community.

2. Heard learned counsel for petitioner and learned Special Government Pleader for respondents.

3. The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that an application dated 20.12.2018, was made requesting the respondent to issue community certificate stating that they belong to Kurichchan (ST) community. The petitioner was sent a reminder application to the respondent on 01.02.2019. Till date, no order has been passed by the respondent. Hence, petitioner has filed the present petition seeking the aforesaid relief.

4.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent submits that orders would be passed on the petitioner's application within a period of six weeks. 5.Considering the above submissions, this Court directs the respondent to pass orders on the petitioner's application on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner. It is made clear that this Court has not considered the merits of the matter and it is for the respondent to consider the same at the time of disposing of the said application. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
