ORDER

The petitioner contends that he is residing at No.14, Appar Street, Extension, Annai Indira Nagar, Chrompet,Chennai-600 044 and the said premises is assessed with tax and is provided with electricity connection. Since there is no water connection, the petitioner applied to the first respondent for providing water connection.

The first respondent initiated the work for laying pipe line to prvide water connection. However, due to some objection raised by third parties, the water connection has not been given. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to provide water connection to the petitioner's premises as per the order of the first respondent dated 17.9.2014.

Heard Mrs.Bhavani Subbarayan, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.P.Srinivas, learned counsel appearing for the first respondent and Mr.M.Jothikumar, learned counsel appearing for the second respondent.

It is evident that the first respondent by order dated 17.9.2014 granted water connection to the petitioner's premises. When such an order is not challenged by anybody, it is the bounden duty of the second respondent to give water connection to the petitioner's premises.

Therefore, the respondents are directed to provide water connection to the petitioner's premises within two weeks from the date of the receipt of a copy of the order. Accordingly the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently connected M.P.No.1 of 2014 is closed.
