By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner has come up with the present writ petition for a mandamus, directing the respondent to consider his application dated 10.2.2014 for new ration card and direct the respondent to issue new ration card to him within a stipulated time.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is residing in Pudhiyavennakkuzhi, H/o. Vijayamangaram Village, Virudhachalam Taluk, Cuddalore District. His marriage was solemnized with one Jayakodi on 2.11.2011 and they have been blessed with two children. Now, the petitioner has set up a separate house. petitioner submitted an application along with necessary documents, to the respondent for issuance of new ration card to him. But, despite his repeated request, the respondent has not issued new ration card. Hence, left with no other alternative, the petitioner has come up with the present writ petition for the relief set out earlier.

4. I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader, who has taken notice on behalf of the respondent.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the submissions made on either side, without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, this Court directs the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 10.2.2014 for issuance of New Ration Card and pass appropriate orders / take appropriate action, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
