(Order of the Court was made by R.MAHADEVAN, J.) This miscellaneous petition has been filed by the proposed parties to implead themselves as party respondents to the above writ appeal.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the petitioners / proposed parties are all Diploma holders and working as Junior Engineers, and they are identically situated persons as that of the private respondents in this writ appeal. Adding further, the learned counsel submitted that as per G.O Ms.No.96 Municipal Administration & Water Supply (MC-3) Department dated 29.07.2016, the amendment to the Chennai Corporation Engineering Service Rules, the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical) can be filled up by promotion from the cadre of Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers in the ratio of 3:1. As per the proceedings dated 22.12.

2023, out of the 12 vacancies to the post of Assistant Executive Engineers, the petitioners' names are included in the promotional panel in the ratio of 3:1 between the Assistant Engineers and the Junior Engineers. The learned counsel also submitted that in this appeal, this Court has passed an order dated 11.03.2024 granting an order of status quo, which directly affects the promotion of the petitioners herein. Hence, the petitioners have sought to implead themselves as parties to the appeal by filing this miscellaneous petition.

On the other hand, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 17 and 18 / Chennai Corporation, on instructions, submitted that the issue is in no way connected to the Assistant Engineers, but related to the Assistant Executive Engineers and hence, the petitioners in CMP.No.7139 of 2024 will not be prejudiced by the action of the respondents / Corporation. She also fairly submitted that the respondents / Corporation would not take any adverse steps against them.

4. Recording the submissions so made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 17 and 18, this miscellaneous petition is closed, as no further orders need be passed.
