ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the concerned Regional Transport Officer to grant Contract Carriage Maxi Cab

permit in respect of the vehicle bearing registration No.TN-18-B-6657 to the petitioner based on the petitioner's application dated 28.01.2026 within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that since the applicable fees for submitting the application seeking for grant of Contract Carriage Maxi Cab permit was paid by the petitioner to the Regional Transport Officer, Chennai (North), it is the Regional Transport Officer, Chennai (North), who has to consider the petitioner's application and not the respondent. The said submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner is recorded by this Court.

3. Mr.M.Shahjahan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for the respondent.

4. No prejudice would be caused to any other parties, if a direction is issued to the Regional Transport Officer, Chennai (North), to consider the petitioner's application seeking for grant of Contract Carriage Maxi Cab permit in respect of vehicle bearing Registration No.TN-18-B-6657 on merits and in accordance with law after giving due consideration to the supporting documents produced by the petitioner within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

For the foregoing reasons, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the Regional Transport Officer, Chennai (North), to pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's application dated 28.01.2026 seeking for grant of Contract Carriage Maxi Cab permit in his favour in respect of vehicle bearing Registration No.TN-18-B-6657 after giving due consideration to the supporting documents produced by the petitioner within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
