The prayer sought for in the present application is, to grant a further extension of six months from 19.04.2019 to complete the arbitral proceedings for passing an arbitral award.

2. Heard Mr.John Zachariah, learned counsel for the applicant and Ms.Gayathri Rajagopalan, learned counsel who has taken notice for the respondents.

3. Both the learned counsel submitted that one year and six months period ended by 19.04.2019, within which time considerable progress has been made by the arbitrator and the matter is posted for cross examination of the witnesses by the parties concerned and therefore, in order to complete the trial and after hearing arguments, the passing of award will at least take another six months. Therefore, it has become necessitated to extend the time for the arbitral tribunal. http://www.judis.nic.in

Considering the said submissions made by both sides, taking into consideration the factual matrix of the case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the arbitrator for a further period of six months from 19.04.2019, within which it is expected that the award would be passed by the arbitral tribunal.
