ORDER

Heard Mr.Venkatesh, the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Arumugam, the learned Government Advocate, for the respondents.

2. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to regularize his service as "Village Assistant" of Thimmachur Village, Thirukovilur Taluk, Kallakurichi District, based on the recommendation of the Village Administrative

Officer, Thimmachur Village, Thirukovilur Taluk from the year 2010 and by considering the petitioner's representation dated 15.12.2020.

3. The petitioner claims himself to be the "Village Assistant" and was rendering services for more than ten years. In fact the petitioner's father was working as "Village Assistant" from the year 1976 and he retired on 30.06.1999 and he died on 11.07.2010. The petitioner claims that he was helping his father while he was alive and from then onwards he was also in service as "Village Assistant".

4. After the "Village Assistants" got regularized in pursuant to the Government Orders, all the appointments to the post of "Village Assistants" will be made only in accordance with the rules of recruitment. The petitioner has not produced any order of appointment or any salary slip to show that he was functioning as "Village Assistant" and was getting remuneration from the Government. There is no basis for the claim made by the petitioner. However, it is up to the petitioner to apply and participate in any of the selection process consequent to any of the notification given

in this regard by the respondent calling for applications.

5. With the above observation, this writ petition is disposed. No costs.
