Prayer: Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 13.02.2026 with regard to issue license and identification card to the petitioner for running bunk shop adjacent to the Sun TV Office, M.Ramasamy Chettiyar Nagar, Janaki Avenue, Belesa Tower, Pattinapakkam, Chennai-600 028, as per the provision of the street vendors protection of livelihood Regulation Act, 2014 and till them not to disturb the petitioner in running the bunk shop in the aforesaid place.

O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 13.02.2026 with regard to issue license and identification card to the petitioner for running bunk shop adjacent to the Sun TV Office, M.Ramasamy Chettiyar Nagar, Janaki Avenue, Belesa Tower, Pattinapakkam, Chennai-600 028, as per the provisions of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, and till then, not to disturb the petitioner in running the bunk shop in the aforesaid place.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is a physically challenged person and is running a bunk shop adjacent to Sun TV Office for the past 14 years. While so, the officials from the first respondent had threatened the petitioner to remove the bunk shop. Hence, the petitioner made a representation on 13.02.2026 to the respondents requesting to issue vending license to run the bunk shop, however, no action has been taken so far. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice, if the first respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.02.2026 on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent and the learned counsel appearing for the second respondent.

5. In view of the limited request made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
