O R D E R
(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner has filed the writ petition seeking directions to the respondents to monitor/regulate, censor and check the private TV Channels as well as the programmes telecast by them by an independent Statutory Regulatory Body.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in fact, an order has been passed on 19.02.2008 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, which has come to notice subsequently, but for the reasons best known, it had not been given adequate publicity. The order covers the subject matter in issue, but he submits that there are some administrative actions required to be implemented by the State Government in pursuance to this order.
3. We are, thus, of the view that the subject matter in the present writ petition does not survive and it is for the respondent authorities now to act in pursuance to the order issued.
4. The writ petition is closed.
