ORDER

The village President sought for permission to conduct Chitra Pournami festival in the village and since his representation on 14.02.2024 is not yet been disposed of, before this Court under Article 226 of C.P.C., seeking Writ of Mandamus.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submits that before the President approach this Court, one Kuppammal claiming herself as President of 'Annaithu Magalir Koottamippu' approached this Court for a similar prayer in Crl.O.P.No.6414 of 2024 and this Court disposed of her petition on 11.03.2024 with direction to the police to consider the representation. Meanwhile, the HR & CE department through fit person had made a request to the Inspector of Police, Gingee police station seeking police protection for conducting the car procession on the Chithra Pournami day.

In the request letter of the fit person of the HR & CE 2/4

department, there is also reference about the request made by Kuppammal, President 'Annaithu Magalir Koottamippu' and the village public. Since the request for police protection already emanated from HR & CE department which is the competent authority for conducting temple festival, there is no necessity to entertain this petition filed by the President of that village.

Therefore, this Writ Petition is dismissed. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is also dismissed. No costs. 02.04.2024 rpl To 1.The Superintendent of Police, Villupuram District, Villupuram.
