Respondents Prayer:- Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to direct the respondents, particularly 4th respondent, to give police protection to the ensuring Arulmighu Mariamman Temple Festival, to be celebrated on 15th, 16th and 17th July 2016 in Pimbalur Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Perambalur District.

ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents, particularly 4th respondent, to give police protection to the ensuring Arulmighu Mariamman Temple Festival, to be celebrated on 15th, 16th and 17th July 2016 in Pimbalur Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Perambalur District.

2. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that there is a clash between two communities viz., Udaiyar and Gounder, in connection with conduct of Temple Festival, on account of which, a case in Crime No.170 of 2016 has been registered on 12.05.2016 under Section 107 Cr.P.C and proceedings are being held.

3. Under such circumstances, this Court cannot grant police protection as prayed for by the petitioner to one group as such in connection with Temple Festival.

In view of the above, the criminal original petition is closed.
