Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent herein to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 7.8.2014 within a time frame fixed by this Honourable Court.

By consent the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. 2.The petitioner claims that he is running a pawn broker business and also a member in Tiruchirapalli District Rifle Club as well as Pondicherry Shooting Association and also participated in the Tamil Nadu State Shooting Championship Competitions held at Chennai. Petitioner applied for new arm DBBL gun license vide application dated 10.07.2013 to the second respondent for the purpose of self protection and enquiry was conducted by the Superintendent of Police, Tanjavour on 14.12.2013, thereafter it came to be rejected. against the rejection, the petitioner preferred an appeal to the first respondent on 07.08.2014 and though, nearly an year had elapsed, the appeal has not been given disposal and hence came forward to file this writ petition.

3.Heard the submissions of Mr.M.Manikandhan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Digvijaya Pandian, learned Additional Government Pleader who accepts notice for the respondents. 4.This Court without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, directs the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 07.08.2014 in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.

5.The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
