Mr.M.Udayakumar, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for 1st and 2nd respondents. Mr.R.Govindasamy, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for 3rd and 4th respondents. By consent of the parties, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. This petition is filed seeking for a Mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to permit the petitioner to continue the IV Semester in M.E.Course (Computer Aided Design) at Government College of Engineering, Salem, from December 2017 till April 2018, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 17.11.2017.

3. It is stated that the petitioner, while doing M.E.Course in the 4th respondent College got selected to the post of Sub Inspector of Police at the Tamil Nadu Police Department and consequently joined the said service. However, he wants to continue the IV Semester of the said Course, for which, he is seeking permission from the respondents.

4. However, the learned counsel appearing for the Anna University, based on instructions, submitted that as the petitioner has already discontinued the Course, he has to necessarily approach the Director of Technical Education and seek permission to continue the Course and only when such permission is given, the request for continuing the Course in the IV Semester at the 4th respondent College would be considered.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner will make such request to the Director of Technical Education, Guindy, Chennai, by making necessary application.

6. Therefore, the petitioner, after obtaining necessary permission from his own Department, is permitted to make such representation to the Director of Technical Education, Guindy, Chennai, within a period of seven days therefrom. On receipt of such representation, the said authority is directed to consider the same on merits and in accordance with law without loss of further time, however, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of such representation. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.

7. Since the Director of Technical Education, Guindy, Chennai is not a party to this writ petition, Registry is directed to mark a copy to the said authority. Sd/- Asst.Registrar (CS IX ) /true copy/ Sub Asst. Registrar To
