.. Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents that Sithalapakkam Lake should be protected from garbage dumping

because the respondents has continue to garbage dumping in the Sithalapakkam Lake. In future the Sithalapakkam lake will be a garbage dump yard instead of drinking water supply. For Petitioner : Mr.M.Silambarasan For Respondents : Mrs.R.Anitha Special Govt. Pleader

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) We have heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The status reports were filed by the respondents from time to time. The status report dated 28.12.2021 shows that appropriate steps have been taken in Sithalapakkam lake for the removal of garbage dumping. It is stated that approximately 1500 tonnes of debris were cleared within five days thereby the entire lake area was cleaned.

3. In view of the above, nothing would survive for consideration in this writ petition.

4. Hence, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to prevent dumping of garbage in Sithalapakkam lake and at the same time, if any debris still remains, the same shall be cleared within one month from today and the compliance report shall be filed before this Court thereafter. Consequently, the connected WMP is closed. There will be no order as to costs.
