Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pass orders on the letter dated 15.03.2022 and effect the service connection to the petitioner's small shop situate at New No: 59/24, New Avadi Road, Chennai - 600010, under Regulation 27(4) of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Code, 2004.

Ms.KeerthanaShenoi, learned counsel for Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondent and is armed with sufficient instructions to proceed with the matter finally even at the stage of admission.

2. The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent i.e., the Assistant Engineer, Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) to provide temporary service connection to the petitioner's shop at New No: 59/24, New Avadi Road, Chennai - 600010.

3. The preliminary objection put forth by Ms.Keerthana is that no such application has been received, and hence the question of processing the same does not arise. That apart, she states that there would be other impediments to the grant of service connection, which the Court is not inclined to look into, seeing they constitute disputed of questions of fact.

4. Board Proceedings in (Per) (CMD) TANGEDCO Proceedings No.362 dated 04.08.2016 requires the consumer to file an application seeking electricity service connection online in the official portal of TANGEDCO.

5. Thus, and seeing as the representation of the petitioner has been filed manually, let the petitioner file an application online and in accordance with the presently prevailing procedure. Such application, if and when received, shall be processed by the respondent, notice issued to the owner of the property as well as any others who are necessary for proper consideration and disposal of the application, all parties heard, and a speaking order passed, either accepting or rejecting the petitioner's application, within a period of four weeks from date of receipt of the application.

6. With this, the Writ Petition stands closed. No costs. Connected Writ Miscellaneous Petition is also closed.
