Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 5.4.2017 and accord permission to conduct Jallikattu in Sentharappatti village, Salem District or any other subsequent date with necessary police protection.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.Sundar, J.) This writ petition has been filed with a prayer seeking direction to the first respondent to grant permission to conduct Jallikkattu.
It is the case of the writ petitioner that he has made an application to the District Collector, Salem (first respondent before us), seeking permission to conduct Jallikkattu in Sentharappatti village, Kengavalli Taluk, Salem District on the first day of Tamil month of Chithirai, i.e., 14.04.2017. It is also clearly stated in the representation that it is customary that Jallikkattu is annually held on the 1st day of Chithirai (Tamil month), i.e., 14th of April every year. To be noted, the Additional Government Pleader, who accepted notice on behalf of the respondents, submitted that the above said village, namely, Sentharappatti, is not notified qua conduct of Jallikkattu and therefore, permission cannot be granted.
However, as we find that the petitioner's plea itself has become infructuous as it is with regard to permission for an event on 14.4.2017, we are not expressing any opinion on the same at this point of time.
We dismiss the writ petition as infructuous. No costs. Sd/- Asst.Registrar (CS IV ) /true copy/ Sub Asst. Registrar vvk To 1.The District Collector, Salem District, Collectorate, Salem.
