Respondents Prayer: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to issue patta in Survey No.258, Pennadam Town Panchayat, Thittakudi Taluk, Cuddalore District in favour of the petitioner within the time frame to be fixed by this Honourable Court.

By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner is an encroacher and he claims to be in possession of certain portion of the lands in Survey No.258, Pennadam Town Panchayat, Thittakudi Taluk, Cuddalore District, for so many years and his grievance is that persons who are similarly placed and residing in that area, have been issued with house site pattas and he has been singled out and discriminated and in this regard, he submitted a representation dated 21.10.2014, to the 1st respondent praying for issuance of patta and though, it was forwarded to the 2nd respondent to inspect and submit a report, no response is forthcoming and hence, came forward to file this writ petition.

3. Heard the submissions of Mr.C.Munusamy, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Ms.P.Rajalakshmi, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice for the respondents.

4. Though the petitioner has sought for a larger relief, this Court, taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, directs the 2nd respondent to take note of the memo of the 1st respondent in O.Mu.No.(A4)2810/2014 dated 15.11.2014 and after putting on notice the persons concerned, pass orders as expeditiously as possible and not later than six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and inform the decision taken, to the petitioner as well as to the persons concerned.
