Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to give police protection to the petitioner to harvest the Casuarina Trees in his land comprised in S.No.76/3 and 83/2 situated at Keelkavarapattu Revenue Village, Panruti Taluk, Cuddalore District to an extent of 4 acres pursuant to the petitioner's complaint dated 14.02.2025 with the respondents 1 and 2.

O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 & 2 to provide adequate police protection to harvest the Casuarina Trees standing on the petitioner's land comprised in S.No.76/3 and 83/2, admeasuring 4 acres, situated at Keelkavarapattu Revenue Village, Panruti Taluk, Cuddalore District.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the first and second respondents. Perused the materials available on record.
3. It is seen that there is a property dispute between the petitioner and the respondents 3 and 4 herein. Therefore, the petitioner ought to have approached the Civil Court for appropriate relief.
4. In view of the above, it is well settled that police protection can be granted only for the protection of life and limb of a person and not for enforcing civil rights, such as harvesting trees or crops. Therefore, the relief sought for in this petition cannot be granted and the writ petition is liable to be dismissed.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs.
