Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 5th respondent to correct the erroneous entry in the petitioner's land accounts by incorporating 0.0177.0 Square Meter in the petitioner's property Survey No.833/2-1 and by inserting 0.0135.0 Square Meter in the 6th respondent's Survey No.833/2-2 in accordance with the proceedings of the 2nd respondent in Na.Ka.No.703/2022/A2 dated 23.11.2022.

For Petitioner : Dr.S.K.Kumaran For Respondent : Mr.A.Selvendran for R1 to R5 Special Government Pleader

ORDER

This writ petition is filed for a direction to the official respondents to rectify the mistake crept in the revenue records.

2. It is the grievance of the petitioner that he has purchased an extent of 177 square meters, however, the revenue record is referred to as if 135 square meters. It is the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner the petitioner and the sixth respondent have purchased the property from the very same vendor. However, their extent had been wrongly reflected in the revenue record. Admittedly, the extent purchased by both the parties, i.e., the petitioner and the sixth respondent is not in dispute. In this regard, enquiry is already conducted by the Special Tahsildar, Urban Land Tax and report is also forwarded indicating that the sixth respondent has admitted having purchased only an extent of 135 square meters by virtue of Doc.No.1140 of 1987 dated 07.06.1987 and recommended for issuance of patta with the correct 2/4

measurement. However, the same has not been considered. Hence, seeks a direction.

3. The learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents 1 to 5 and submitted that second respondent has also recommended for rectification of patta by proceedings dated 23.11.2022, the same will be rectified, since the competent authority is the District Revenue Officer.

4. Heard both sides and perused the materials placed on record. In view of the above, this Court directs the first respondent to rectify the mistakes crept in the revenue records and make necessary entries within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order. The first respondent shall assign the work to the District Revenue Officer, Kanchipuram to make such corrections as per the report of the second respondent dated 23.11.2022.

5. With the above directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
