Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 3rd respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's application dated 26.02.2026 for grant of trade license for running the engineering workshop in the name and style of "Salem Star Engineering Works", in accordance with Rule 289 (5) of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Rules, 2023, within a time fame as may be fixed by this Court. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the 3rd respondent to grant trade license to the petitioner's workshop based on the petitioner's application, dated 26.02.2026, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. The petitioner is running a motor vehicle engineering workshop in the property morefully disclosed in the affidavit filed in support of this Page No.2 of 6
writ petition. The petitioner has applied for trade license through his application, dated 26.02.2026. Since the said application has not been considered, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.
3. No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if the petitioner's application dated 26.02.2026 seeking trade license is considered on merits and in accordance with law, after hearing the objections of the 4th respondent, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
4. This Court is not expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's application.
5. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the 3rd respondent to pass final order on the petitioner's application, dated 26.02.2026 seeking grant of trade license in petitioner's favour, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after hearing the objections of the 4th respondent.

6. With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
