The prayer sought for herein is to grant extension of time by six months (i.e. from 19.03.2019 to 18.09.2019) for completion of the Arbitration dispute between the petitioner and the respondents before the Hon'ble Arbitration Tribunal presided by Hon'ble Lordship Mr.Justice.R.Venkatraman (retired).

2. Heard the learned counsel for the applicant as well as the learned counsel appearing for the respondents. According to the learned counsel for both sides, the one year mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal was over on 18.03.2019 and thereafter the same has not been extended and hence this application has become necessitated.

3. However, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents also has stated that, the respondents have no objection for reasonable extension for the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal.

4. Though, the extension sought for by both parties can be extended by mutual consent, as mandated under Section 29A of the Act, they have chosen to approach this Court. http://www.judis.nic.in

5. Be that as it may, the learned counsel for both sides want the extension of the mandate for a further period. In the meanwhile, since the arbitration proceedings has reached the stage of examination of witnesses, they want a further period of atleast eight months to complete the arbitration.

6. Considering the said submission made by the learned counsel appearing for both sides, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for the further period of eight months from 19.03.2019, within which period, it is expected that the arbitration proceedings would be concluded and final award would be passed.
