Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused all the materials placed before this Court. 3.

According to the petitioner, he is functioning as President of the "The Madras District Washermen Society Limited Advisory Committee" and he is playing a key role in resisting illegal encroachments and land grappling on the society and therefore, he is facing serious life threat from anti social elements. Considering the same, the respondents are directed to dispose of the representations submitted by the petitioner seeking police protection with personal security guard to protect his life and safety, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of this order. 4.

With the above direction, both the writ petitions are disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
