This writ of mandamus filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to direct the Respondents to appoint the petitioner on the compassionate appointment in pursuance to the representation dated 14.07.2007, 23.07.2015 and 20.01.2026.

ORDER

The writ petition has been filed seeking the following relief : "To direct the respondents to appoint the petitioner on the compassionate appointment in pursuance to the representation dated 14.07.2007, 13.07.2015 and 20.01.2026."

2. The petitioner's father was working as a Sanitary Worker under the respondents and his service was regularized in the year 1991. While he was in service, he suffered from cancer and died on 14.06.2006, leaving behind his wife, Nirmala, an illiterate and two minor children, namely Sharmila and the petitioner. He was the sole breadwinner of the family. At the time of death of petitioner's father, he was only 14 years old. The petitioner's mother submitted

an application dated 14.07.2007 to the second respondent seeking compassionate appointment. However, no action was taken on the same.

3. After attaining majority, the petitioner had submitted a fresh application dated 23.07.2015 to the first respondent. Subsequently, on 07.12.2016, the petitioner has also produced the Integrated Community Certificate issued by the Tahsildar, Mylapore Taluk, as called for by the third respondent. The petitioner's family is suffering from severe financial hardship. Though the respondents repeatedly assured that the petitioner's request would be considered, no orders have been passed.

4. Hence, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 20.01.2026 to the respondents 2 and 3 seeking consideration of his claim for compassionate appointment. However, till date, no orders have been passed. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court seeking a writ of mandamus.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the fact that the petitioner's representations are pending for a considerable period, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioner dated 23.07.2015 and 20.01.2026, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, on or before 30.04.2026 and communicate the same to the petitioner.

7. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. List the matter for reporting compliance on 01.06.2026 . 26-03-2026 Speaking/Non-speaking order MRP
