This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondents, not to harass the petitioner without following the due process of law.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was previously a tenant under Balaji and is now under C.R. Venkatesan, who had taken the commercial premises on rent. The erstwhile landlord, Balaji, had sold the property to C.R.Venkatesan. Thereafter, the petitioner had been paying rent to C.R.Venkatesan till November 2025. Subsequently, under the guise of a notice from the Corporation to demolish the building, the petitioner was forced out of the property. The 4th respondent is now forcing the petitioner to vacate and is causing harassment. Hence, this petition.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that the property originally belonged to Balaji, who later sold it to C.R. Venkatesan. The petitioner continued as a tenant. However, he defaulted in the payment of rent and has been squatting on the property without any authorisation. Further, the building is in a dilapidated condition and the Coimbatore Corporation has issued a demolition notice, as it poses a danger to the public. The petitioner was summoned on 15.03.2026, but he failed to appear and has instead approached this Court.

4. It is seen that in this case, the Corporation has already issued a demolition notice, considering that the building is in a dilapidated condition and poses a threat to public safety.

5. In view of the above, this Court directs the petitioner to appear before the 4th respondent on 23.03.2026 and produce all relevant documents. The 4th respondent shall conduct an enquiry and take appropriate action in the manner known to law.
