This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to quash the proceedings in C.C.No.1661 of 2018 pending on the file of the XIV Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai, for the offences under Sections 341, 294(b), 332, 324 & 506(ii) IPC. 2.When the matter was taken up for hearing today, there was no representation on behalf of the petitioner. 3.The crux of the allegations in the final report is that, when the police officials were on duty, an information was received that the resident of No.2/6, 9th Avenue needs help, and they rushed to the spot, where the petitioner assaulted the police officials and also stabbed a police official with knife and caused injuries.

Besides, there are several other allegations against him.

4.This Court is of the view that, when there are prima facie materials on record to proceed with the trial, the criminal proceedings cannot be quashed at the threshold. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to quash the final report. 5.Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
